Meet Janna Weyburne

Meet Janna Weyburne
We were searching for an outstanding public school suitable for our family. We moved into the district in 2015.  Our children are all Indian Hill Braves, Tommy (Class of 2032), Luke (Class of 2035) and Nora (Class of 2036).

Being a Brave means feeling welcomed and encouraged to shine your brightest. Our Brave Community is bursting with talent, and I value all of the opportunities provided for each Brave to thrive. A Brave does not need to dull their light for another to shine.

My children have thrived exploring new ideas each year during project based learning (PBL). I even learned a new skill – how to generate a QR Code – thanks to a fourth grade PBL. This model gives students an opportunity to present their project, which my children always enjoy.
Our teacher's thinking classrooms have grown with the students' cognitive abilities. Each year looks a little different, though I am grateful they have so many opportunities in the classroom to approach content in a new way.

The PTO operates to enrich our district across all four schools including our students, staff, and parents. An outstanding 99% of funds the PTO brings in go right to pay for items for our students. A PTO membership pays for the field trips our children attend. Our teachers and parents are not burdened with collecting individual field trip fees. Many schools rely on student driven fundraising to pay for field trips and bussing to field trips. The fifth grade Stock Market Game was expanded under the PTO to include every student. Those smaller tangibles like pizza and an ice cream truck at High School Bridges to the giant production that is After Prom are put on and paid for by PTO funds. Party in the Middle, an opportunity for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students to socialize in a safe environment with inclusive activities, is put on and organized by PTO volunteers. This year, a PTO membership includes a Party in the Middle ticket.

While volunteering with the PTO I’ve gained friendships and connections that have truly enriched my life. People I would not have ordinarily crossed paths with, those with high school or college aged children or teachers and staff in schools my children did not yet attend. The sea of unknown faces are now familiar and includes a community of good friends.
