Indian Hill Primary School Grades K–2
About
Indian Hill Primary School Building

Our early childhood programs lay a world-class foundation, consistently contributing to the Indian Hill Exempted Village School District's elite standing as one of the top public school systems in both the State of Ohio and the nation.

While official Ohio State Tests (OSTs) do not begin until the third grade, Indian Hill Primary School aggressively measures and secures foundational literacy early on. Through our local Kindergarten through 2nd-grade reading diagnostics, our school consistently demonstrates that nearly 96% of our young learners track firmly “On-Track” for reading proficiency well ahead of state benchmarks, giving them an exceptional springboard into their academic careers.

These outstanding outcomes are intentionally engineered by blending a rigorous academic framework with a deeply intentional social-emotional curriculum. We have fully adopted the Responsive Classroom (RC) approach—a research- and evidence-based framework for elementary education that leads to greater teacher effectiveness and higher instructional quality, higher academic performance, and improved school climate, including better teacher-student interaction.

Recognized globally by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) as a gold-standard social and emotional learning model, the Responsive Classroom system ensures our classrooms are joyful, respectful, and highly interactive. At IHPS, our students do not just master foundational academic concepts; they develop the socio-emotional resilience required to meet the demands and challenges of the next grade level.
